StreamFinder Privacy Policy

Last updated: March 25, 2026

StreamFinder is a Chrome extension that helps you find where to stream, rent, or buy movies and TV shows. Your privacy is important to us. This policy explains what data the extension accesses and how it is used.

Data We Do Not Collect

StreamFinder does not collect, transmit, or store any personal information. We do not use analytics, tracking pixels, or third-party data services.

Your TMDB API Key

StreamFinder requires a free API key from The Movie Database (TMDB). This key is entered by you on the extension's settings page and stored exclusively in chrome.storage.local on your own device. It is never transmitted to any server other than TMDB's own API.

Search Queries

When you search for a title — either by highlighting text and right-clicking or by typing in the toolbar popup — that title is sent directly to the TMDB API (api.themoviedb.org) to retrieve movie or TV show information and streaming availability. This request is made from your browser to TMDB's servers and is subject to TMDB's Privacy Policy.

No Background Activity

StreamFinder only contacts TMDB when you actively perform a search. It does not run in the background, monitor your browsing, or access any page content beyond the text you explicitly highlight.
